The treatment of spinal cord injury is a major clinical challenge. Traditional surgery and drug treatment cannot fundamentally solve the problem of nerve regeneration, and at the same time fail to achieve ideal curative effects. In contrast, tissue engineering research using biomaterials as delivery systems to load stem cells, drugs, and growth factors has attracted much attention in recent years. Hydrogel is a three-dimensional network structure with high water content that is biocompatible, it has advantages such as degradability and adjustability; due to its unique advantages as a delivery system, it can overcome the limitations of surgical treatment, drug treatment and cell therapy, opening up good prospects for the treatment of spinal cord injury. This article will review the classification of hydrogels, as well as their mechanisms and applications in the treatment of spinal cord injury, in order to provide new ideas for the treatment of spinal cord injury. |
