Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury is a common condition in orthopedics, usually resulting from sports injuries and transportation accidents. The ACL plays an important role in maintaining the stability of the knee joint. Currently, anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) is the most commonly used therapy for ACL injuries. The all-inside technique (AIT) is a newly emerging surgical technique that has many advantages, such as better improvement of knee joint function, larger diameter graft, less bone removal and more muscle preservation, lower rate of complications, less postoperative pain, and better cosmetic result. This article reviews the historical development of the AIT, surgical characteristics, advantages and shortcomings compared to traditional technique, clinical efficacy, and discusses the progress in the application and the future direction of AIT in ACLR. |
